Are you looking for an acupuncturist in New Plymouth? You’ve come to the right place! Our Acupuncturist Lisa is as experienced in using acupuncture for Musculoskeletal needs as she is in line of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Acupuncture is a form of therapy involving the insertion of fine needles into the skin. This is painless, though you might feel a dull ache around the needle – which means that the treatment is working!

Acupuncture is safe, and effective in reducing pain. It has been practised for thousands of years and focuses on restoring the body’s natural balance and equilibrium. All our needles are single-use, sterilised needles that are immediately disposed of after treatment.

Acupuncture originated around 100 BC, some say even earlier, yet it is still used widely across the globe today. While the application of Acupuncture has evolved over two thousand years, it’s unique concept of an internal map within the body is ancient and enduring.

These internal pathways, known as Meridians, weave throughout the body to help maintain health and necessary healing. Fine Acupuncture needles can be inserted into highly responsive locations on the meridians where they surface the body, stimulating the body into self healing.

While our bodies ability to self heal is natural, time is not always our best healer. Acupuncture can stimulate the body like a new conversation, helping the body focus, self regulate and heal. At times our bodies draw a line in the sand with an impasse of pain or lack of freedom. Curbing us from living life as we please. There is often a history leading up to this point, with the more obvious candidates being injury or even multiple injuries which compound over time.

However sometimes these health crisis can have more subtle roots that build up from the less obvious impact of our daily lives. Choices we make with our posture, movement patterns, diet and our internal and external environments all combine to reflect our evolving state of health.

Traditional Chinese Medicine’s (TCM) approach to healing is holistic; piecing together the various factors that may be holding the health issue in place. A greater understanding of what has lead to this moment, can empower both the practitioner and client to work with the bodies needs and maximise the potential for healing. If you are a person who values health as an essential quality of life, Lisa looks forward to meeting you and helping you help yourself.
